Here's a unique look at the Albion River Bridge. On top, the guard railings were just recently painted a fresh white, but underneath lies the last remaining wooden trestle on California Highway 1.
Timber bridges are rare, but beautiful in design and environmentally friendly. This bridge was built during WWII, in 1944 when concrete and steel were in short supply. Wood however, is a renewable resource, and very abundant in this area.
This photo was taken with a fisheye lens, standing on the sands of Albion Beach.
